The City of Caldwell is looking for a Wastewater Engineer. Individual performs supervisory, administration, and professional engineering work while directing the major wastewater engineering activities of the public works department. Provides senior-level licensed engineering oversight, solving problems of high technical difficulty and potentially mediating delicate public relations matters in the best interest of all parties concerned. This position works under general supervision of the Deputy Public Works Director. This is not a remote position.
Responsibilities:
Manages a variety of projects at wastewater treatment and collection facilities and is the project manager for projects completed by the city.
Provides support to program and project management teams by directing and assigning tasks to team members to ensure deadlines are met.
Reviews and critiques wastewater treatment system proposals, plans, reports, and designs completed by consultants.
Conducts business case evaluations for assigned projects. Prepares requests for qualifications (RFQ) and request for proposal (RFP) and participates in the review and selection of vendors.
Works closely with the wastewater operations and maintenance staff in identifying and resolving issues.
Coordinates with consultants, contractors, architects, and planners for new treatment systems construction.
Sign-on bonus of $5000 will be offered: $2500 on the first paycheck and $2500 after one year of employment.
Education, Training, and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in civil, structural, sanitary, or mechanical engineering or a closely related field.
Five years' work experience of progressively responsible engineering in the practice of complex project development and engineering project management.
Two years of work experience managing complex public works projects with leadership responsibilities; or
Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements:
Licensed by the State of Idaho as a Professional Engineer (PE) or if licensed in another state, the ability to acquire an Idaho license through the Idaho Board of Professional Engineers within six months of hire date.
Valid state-issued driver's license.
The ability to work weekend shifts, and holidays may be required.
Successful completion of pre-employment background check and drug test.
